The module provides an overview the major elements of the Australian service systems available to people with intellectual disability and mental illness, examines what each of them does best, and provides some information on how to access these services.
Target audience
The module is intended to provide information to individuals working with people with an intellectual disability, wanting to increase their understanding of the knowledge and theory about working with people who are on medication for the treatment of mental disorders or challenging behaviour.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this module, you should be able to:•Have an understanding of the Disability service system. •Have an understanding of the public mental health service system. •Have an understanding of the private mental health service system. •Understand the skills of the different practitioners with in the service systems.
