Module 9 - Challenging Behaviours
Key Learning Points:
1.
Challenging behaviour can have a number
of possible causes and often has more than
one cause.
2.
Where challenging behaviour has changed
significantly or a new behaviour appears, it
is important to exclude physical illness or
pain.
3.
Intervention to shape the behaviour of
another person should only be undertaken
where their behaviour presents a
significant risk to the person or to others.
4.
The key to management is a careful
assessment to identify what environmental, physical, mental or emotional factors
are contributing to the behaviour and then trying to modify these.
