Module 3 - Assessment of Mental Health for People with an Intellectual Disability
Case Examples
Case 2:
Andrew is a 24 year old man with a mild intellectual disability who works on his own (but under supervision) at night stacking shelves in a supermarket. The supermarket recently changed hands and his new supervisor told him he was too slow and that he would have to leave his job. Andrew ran out of the shop and got onto a night bus that took him several miles away to an unfamiliar area. He was picked up by the police but did not answer any questions. He was taken to hospital where he stayed for a few days before telling people his name although he was unable to explain why he had behaved in this way. What might be the issue here?
